The Color Pavilion is a traditional type of puppet stage used in Taiwanese glove puppet theater. Beyond the more familiar proscenium-style stages seen today, during the golden age of Budaixi, every puppet troupe took pride in owning a richly decorated and gilded Color Pavilion.
These ornate stages were more than just performance platforms—they were a symbol of a troupe’s artistic excellence and reputation. A grand Color Pavilion signified that the performances it housed were not only skillful but truly captivating.
